Gas equipment

The boat has a gas burning circulating water heating by Aga (now Gastherm) and stove by Upo. Both work still fine. The gas bottles, hoses, and some other bits and pieces had to be changed to meet the national requirements.

The bubble-type leak tester leaked and was removed. A gas alarm - Alde GaSafe - was installed.

The heating works just fine to remove the chilliness of fall season evenings and rainy summer days. It has the benefit of not requiring any electricity. In 2012 it was replaced with an oil burning heater.

New stairs

I ordered new stairs for the main cabin with the design of the newer Wasa boats. It took some time, but the stairs fit well and provide better support when the boat heels.

Compressor for the ice box

The ice box is hidden in the nav desk. I added a compressor system to it: the smallest ASU unit of Isotherm was a good fit. The pre-filled tubing and modular structure made the installation quite easy. The compressor unit is placed under navigator's seat. I added also a separate 75 Ah battery for the unit; it has turned out to be one size too small and would need a solar panel as a support.

Gsm phone

The gsm phone was added to the panel over navi desk with the help of a car hands-free kit (Nokia 6250 and CARK-111). The separate handset is practical, since the cellular has to stay in its holder to connect with the mast top combination antenna. With the good coverage of the cellular phone, the marine vhf gets very little use in the domestic waters.

Holding tank

The existing holding tank got a suction connection, which nowadays is mandatory here. A WeMa level indicator was added to the tank.

At the same time, all hoses were replaced with sanitary quality ones. The old standard plastic hoses were stinking…

Heater replacement

After 30 years, the Aga heater started to misbehave. I will replace it with the smallest Glembring diesel oil heater. The existing 'balanced draft' flue gas system of Aga is used. I also added a small circulating pump to the radiator water circuit and connected a heat exchanger to the engine.

Electrical system

The original electrical system was done with 'aircraft quality', all wires in conduits etc. The add-on wiring by subsequent owners is more like on earlier American cars: just dropped on top of everything else. The system will be rewired in due time.
